Valentine's Treat

Valentine's Day is all about eating treats with the excuse that it's a holiday. Oh, and love. The past few years I have made big batches of puppy chow (aka muddy buddies). Anything that involves peanut butter is a win in my book. Can you imagine a life without peanut butter?! I shiver at the mere thought of it! I put a bunch of puppy chow into cute Valentine's Day bags like these and gift them to friends and family. It's the perfect treat because it stay fresh for a while so you can make it ahead of time. You can find the recipe below and try it this year. Warning: it is highly addictive!

Ingredients:

1 box of Chex cereal (or another crispy rice cereal)

1 cup peanut butter

1 stick unsalted butter

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Combine the butter, chocolate and peanut butter in a bowl. Place the bowl in the microwave and turn the microwave on for 30 second intervals. Stir the mixture in between the intervals until it is smooth. Then, pour in the vanilla extract.

Pour the cereal into the bowl and stir until all of the cereal is coated with the mixture that you microwaved. If some of the pieces get stuck together, don't worry...those are actually my favorite pieces!

Place the chocolate covered cereal into a large ziplock bag. Pour the powdered sugar into the bag. Shake the bag until the cereal is covered in powdered sugar.

Enjoy and try your best to avoid the addiction!
