How good are dessert cocktails? Not the ones that are super sweet and leave you with the biggest hangover, but the kind that just feel special. I have been really into making White Russians the past couple of winters. They are perfect for when friends come over after dinner for a drink. They're also a snow day fan favorite around the (soon to be) Robinson house.
The only bad thing about White Russians is how heavy they feel in your stomach. They weigh you down with all of the milk products. They are also pretty high in fat and calories. Low fat/High taste is where it's at. I have mastered the most delicious, skinniest White Russian known to mankind. I'm pretty sure that you are going to love the added flavors that I put into this bad boy as well. Pinkies up!
Ingredients (yields two decent sized cocktails):
1 shot (or 50ml) of Irish Cream (I always use Baileys Original)
1/2 a shot (or 25ml) of plain vodka
1 1/2 shots of fat free milk
1/2 shot of coffee liqueur (optional)
A small sprinkle of cinnamon
1/2 cup Brown sugar
1/2 cup Simple syrup
1 cinnamon stick for garnish
Combine the Irish cream, vodka, milk and coffee liqueur in a cocktail shaker.
Lay down parchment paper and pour the brown sugar onto it.
Lay down parchment paper and pour the simple syrup onto it.
Turn your glass upside down and dip the rim of the glass into the simple syrup and then the brown sugar. I know that this is not the traditional way to sugar a rim but I think that it is the most effective route.
Put ice in your glass and then pour the contents of the shaker into the glass.
Sprinkle the drink with a tiny bit of cinnamon. Garnish with the cinnamon stick if you want to.
Enjoy this drink without all of the guilt and stomach aches!
