NYE Outfits

Skirt, Top, Shoes

You guys know that I love a great excuse to get dolled up and fancy. I am either in sweatpants or a dress basically. My sister and I always joke because when she asks what I’m going to wear to something she goes so are you going homeless vibe or wearing a dress? I would like to add that I also wear athleisure a good amount haha. On NYE I like to take the opportunity to get fully dressed up. I’m not a big sparkle or glitz girl (except for when it comes to diamonds, I mean come on haha). Even if you don’t have fancy NYE plans, I think that dressing up in a festive outfit is a way to make it feel different than any other night. Well that and champagne but we all know I can’t drink so I have to wear extra glitter in my outfit to compensate.

This year, I will be in Florida for NYE. My parents always celebrated NYE with their best friends and when we were kids we used to celebrate with them. They recently moved to Florida so after my dad’s passing they kindly invited us down there to celebrate it with them. We are one big extended family (kids included) and so it will be good to all be together for it. It’s another holiday in the list of them all that is crappy this year so I am glad that we will be together as a group/fam. We are going to stay at their condo and all hang out. What are your plans for NYE? Are you going big or laying low?

Jumpsuit, Shoes, Necklace

Who else has some holiday parties coming up? I have Jay’s work party, which is really a pretty lit party filled with 20-somethings who have that NYC-startup thinking going on. It’s such a fun time of year to dress up and really go all out. This time of year, along with vacation, are my favorite things to dress for. I love a good excuse to get fancy! A lot of these items are also perfect for winter weddings. I have one next week and I think that so many of these dresses would be perfect for it and the welcome dinner. I hope this helps get you in the festive spirit!

Wedding Guest Dresses for Summer
IMG_0280.JPG

Wedding season has officially kicked off. I'm going to my first wedding of the season this upcoming weekend! I rounded up all of my favorite dresses here in case you also have summer weddings or events. All of these dresses are under $300, most of them are much less than $300. I broke it down into two categories, long dresses and cocktail length dresses. As always, hover over an image to see the price and click on the image to shop it.

Valentine's Decor & Entertaining Essentials

I grew up with a mom who loved to make holidays and birthdays feel really special. SHE is just really special like that! I love having little festive touches in my home for the holidays. I also like to make cute treats and themed food for holidays (as you probably know haha). Everything tastes better off of a cute plate, right?! I linked my favorite Valentine's home decor below. I also included some party supplies that you can use even if you're not having a party (like me haha). If you're not into baking but want to have something fun and festive, I also linked some treats that you can buy online. The rose cakes are SO good! They arrive frozen and defrost so so well (this is coming from someone who is so picky about freshness). They're so pretty and extremely well priced compared to rose cakes that I've gotten from local bakeries. Let's feel the love! What do you do when its apple season and pumpkin season?! You combine the two into the ultimate pie recipe! This Pumpkin Butter Apple Pie is fall personified in each bite. This pumpkin butter recipe is enough for the pie and for you to keep some pumpkin butter on the side. I used the pumpkin butter in my oatmeal and overnight oats. It'd also be great on waffles, pancakes and crepes..YUM! I think that half of the success while baking can be attributed to the right tools so I linked all of the ones that I used at the bottom of this post. Happy cozy baking!

Pie Recipe

Ingredients for filling:

5 cups of peeled and diced honey crisp apples

1/2 t cinnamon

1/4 t pumpkin pie spice

1 t sea salt

1/3 cup raw cane sugar

2 T pumpkin butter (recipe below)

1.5 T all purpose flour

Ingredients for Crust (I frequently sub a homemade pie crust for an Immaculate Baking Company pie crust that I keep in my fridge):

2 cups flour

1/2 t sea salt

1/2 t cinnamon

2/3 cup + 2 T unsalted butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and place rack in the bottom 1/3 of your oven

Peel and slice the apples

Toss apple slices with cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, salt, sugar, pumpkin butter and unbleached flour in a bowl and set aside

Make the crust by whisking the flour, salt and cinnamon together in a large bowl. Then, use a pastry cutter to add in the 2/3 cup of cold butter until its crumbly

Add very cold water, 1 T at a time, until a dough forms

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and use your hands to mold it into a ball

Divide the dough into 2 parts, 1 for the bottom and 1 for the top of the pie

Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough

Add one of the flat doughs to the pan

Use a crust cutter (the one that I use and love is linked below) to cut the other half of the dough into whatever designs you want

Add filling to pie crust lined pan

Top with the lattice dough cutouts

Brush the top of the dough with the leftover 2 T of melted butter

Bake for 30 minutes and then place tinfoil over the edges of the crust to prevent them from burning

Bake for another 15 minutes or until the crust is a nice golden brown

Serve warm a la mode!

Pumpkin Butter Recipe

Ingredients:

4 cups pumpkin puree

1 cup brown sugar

1 T cinnamon

1 t nutmeg

1 t fresh lemon juice

1 t vanilla extract

4 T pure maple syrup

Directions:

Place all items into your slow cooker and mix.

Cover and let cook on low for 8 hours.

Cool completely and then store in a sealed container in the fridge for 3 weeks.

I don't want to be the annoying person that brings up how summer is coming to a close but unfortunately the rumors are true. With Labor Day weekend approaching, I thought that it would be fun to share a summer tablescape idea. This is perfect for any outdoor party. The tropical vibes make you instantly feel like you are on vacation. Pair it with a palm printed dress, like this one from Vici, and you're good to go. I think that pineapples are such a fun and inexpensive centerpiece idea. These tropical flowers don't hurt either! I hope that you guys have an amazing summer finale!
